Project Overview
The Bluebook AI Citation Tool is a multi-agent software system designed to automate the generation of accurate legal citations from incomplete source information. Users can input a list of sources—such as journal articles, books, or case law—and the system assigns each to a specialized agent trained to handle that citation type. These agents retrieve missing metadata using external APIs like Google Scholar and OpenLibrary and generate Bluebook-compliant citations through an LLM-based agent. The team designed customized tools and workflows for each citation type, ensuring seamless integration between the agents and external databases. This architecture allows even partial or ambiguous inputs to be processed into fully formatted citations with a high degree of reliability and precision. Looking ahead, the project team is working to expand API coverage and improve metadata retrieval accuracy. Their goal is to provide legal researchers, students, and professionals with a fast, dependable solution for streamlining citation creation in academic and legal writing.
